Joshua Wong seeks judicial review over Demosisto registration hold up

Hong Kong | Apr 17, 2018 16:05
Activist Joshua Wong Chi-fung has today sought a judicial review in the High Court today against the Companies Registry decision in January to deny the registration of his political party Demosisto.
The 21-year-old said he suspected the incident was related to party member Agnes Chow Ting being barred from running in the March 11 Legislative Council by-election.
"What we hope is to clarify the principle of registering as a limited company," he told reporters today, RTHK reports. "Hong Kong people deserve freedom of speech and deserve the right to express different political stances or opinions," asking why merely advocating self-determination should disqualify Demosisto from registering as a company.
The localist group was set up by Nathan Law Kwun-chung and Joshua Wong.
