Households may sell power to grid at a price

Hong Kong | Apr 17, 2018 17:48
Hong Kong families will be able to sell electricity generated through sources such as solar panels to the power grid from October under a proposal from the Environment Bureau.
Electricity generated through renewable sources will be eligible receive payment of between HK$3 and HK$5 per kilowatt-hour, the government proposed. The power will be sold to electricity utilities.
The recommended feed-in tariff rates will be applied for a maximum 15 years.
The proposed feed-in tariffs are HK$3 for each unit greater than 200 kilowatts but not exceeding 1 megawatt and HK$5 for each unit of capacity not exceeding 10 kilowatts.
These proposals were based on a commissioned study by Atkins. They considered solar photovoltaic, small scale wind and combined heat and power by biogas and biodiesel.-Photo: CLP
