Tropical storm Khanun heads for Hainan

The tropical storm Khanun, is expected to make landfall in southern China late Sunday or early Monday, according to meteorological observatories in Hainan and Guangdong.
Khanun is expected to land either on the eastern coastal areas of Hainan, or pass southern Hainan and land in northern Vietnam between late Sunday and early Monday. Downpours and gales are forecast in southern China from tomorrow to Monday, Xinhua reports.
The Hong Kong Observatory said at 8:00 p.m., tropical storm Khanun was centred about 430 kilometers south-southeast of Dongsha. It is forecast to move west at about 15 kilometers per hour across the South China Sea and intensify. It will move in the general direction of Hainan Island to Leizhou peninsula.
The State Oceanic Administration issued a yellow alert for ocean waves at 8:00 a.m. today, saying that waves of up to six meters are expected in the north and mid-east region of South China Sea Saturday morning.
