Ken Tsang says will serve sentence
Monday, March 20, 2017
Pro-democracy activist Ken Tsang Kin-chiu said he was dropping an appeal against his five-week prison term for assaulting police officers and resisting arrest during the Occupy protests and would serve his sentence immediately.
Tsang announced the move on a social media account, just over a month after seven police officers were jailed for two years for assaulting him during his arrest at Tamar Park in the early hours of October 15, 2014.
He said he would go to the High Court to complete the proceedings tomorrow.
In his social media post, Tsang rejected media reports that a liquid he poured on officers on Lung Wo Road in Admiralty was urine or a corrosive substance. He said it was merely water that protesters were using to wash their eyes if they were hit by police pepper spray.-RTHK
