Media mogul Li Ruigang lived up to his reputation yesterday by setting up CMC Live Entertainment in Beijing.

Li, the uncrowned king of Television Broadcasts, said the company aims to integrate old and new Chinese music to create the largest platform for performing arts in the mainland.

The firm said the growing mainland market rakes in 13 billion yuan (HK$15.6 billion) annually. It wants to create a healthy commercial environment for performances, particularly concerts. It is also looking for new stars in the music industry.

Li companies have organized concerts for many top acts, including the Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Alan Tam Wing-lun, Hacken Lee Hak-kan and Rene Liu Ruo-ying.
